The Ryman auditorium is the perfect setting for an Opry Country Classics Show. This show pays homage to the many historic country music memories that have been made at the Ryman. The artists and the audience alike sense the special aura of the former tabernacle. Country Music DJ Hall of Fame member, Bill Cody hosted the show. Wade opened the show with Waylon's "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" and Gary Stewart's "She's Actin' Single, I'm Drinkin' Doubles." Wade commented to the audience that one of the entertainers for the evening, Johnny Lee, had given him his first music job when he arrived in Nashville. Later, when Johnny had finished the first song of his set, Wade came back on stage with his guitar in hand. Johnny called to him, "Are you looking for another job, boy?" That was audience pleasing and to add to that pleasure Wade stayed on stage and played guitar and sang harmony with Johnny for the rest of Johnny's set. They finished with Wade's favorite Johnny Lee song, "Cherokee Fiddle." Wade returned later for a third song, Lefty Frizzell's "That's the Way Love Goes." |
